Meghan McCain says siege on Capitol 'would have killed' her father
On Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen Monday night, Meghan McCain spoke about how she thinks her father, the late Senator John McCain, would have handled the insurrection at the Capitol last Wednesday when hundreds of President Trump’s supporters stormed the building in an attempt to stop the certification of the election.
“If he were alive, this would have killed him,” McCain said. “I think he would have—I think it actually would have killed him.”
McCain went on to tell Cohen what it was like watching as events unfolded at the Capitol.
“I was so emotional watching. I was absolutely apoplectic. I was hysterically crying for almost a full 24 hours. I was crying before I went on The View to talk about it,” McCain said. “I can't even express—
I'm still sort of processing feelings as I think all Americans are. What has been done, I don't think can be undone for generations.”
While many Republicans have denounced the move by Democrats to impeach Trump for an unprecedented second time for inciting insurrection, McCain, a conservative, said she is in favor of it.
